# Symposium Bridge 0.5.0-beta.5 — private networking included

## Downloads

- macOS Intel (`mac-x64.dmg`)
- macOS Apple Silicon (`mac-arm64.dmg`)
- Linux x64 AppImage
- Linux x64 Debian package (including the Linux Mint installation option)

## Changed

**No separate Tailscale installation or Tailscale login on these platforms.** Bridge includes its own isolated userspace Tailscale runtime. Sign into Symposium and choose **Connect**; Bridge handles managed enrollment and verifies the private HTTPS connection.

The bundled runtime does not change a personal Tailscale account, system DNS, or system VPN service. Missing bundled components fail closed instead of silently using a system installation.

The local API service and private networking helpers now shut down when their owning app/process dies, preventing that crash path from leaving API/extension ports occupied. An already-running old installation must still be fully quit before replacement.

## Install/update

Fully quit the old Bridge, including its tray/menu-bar process, then install the matching package and reopen it. This release does not reset Bridge's existing data or Passes. There is no need to create a Tailscale account or open the Tailscale app.

macOS can still show its ordinary first-open confirmation. An existing installation may require macOS Keychain approval for **Symposium Bridge Safe Storage**; that is separate from a Tailscale login. Never enter an Apple or Keychain password into chat.

Linux AppImage downloads may need the usual executable permission. The Debian package is an alternative installed-app path. Linux native package tests ran on Ubuntu/X11, not the user's exact Mint/Plank desktop.

## Verification

- Frozen application source: `1e89bd78667a08727b1a2d671216cd6c1a32783b`.
- Native Linux/Intel/Apple Silicon build and acceptance matrix: `34798534884`.
- Both final signed DMGs independently downloaded from a private QA draft and exercised on their matching native Mac architectures: `34800088280`.
- Both Mac apps: approved Doghouse Labs Inc Developer ID, valid nested signatures, Apple notarization tickets stapled/validated, and Gatekeeper acceptance.
- Final packaged private-network startup without a system CLI; restart, abrupt app/service-owner death, port release, duplicate-owner rejection, isolated state, and unchanged DNS tested.
- Native Electron startup, installed `/docs`, and minimum/normal-height UI checks passed. Linux AppImage and installed Debian paths were exercised; the published Store extension was tested against the packaged Linux service.
- One real managed enrollment and production-connector private HTTPS path was exercised with a temporary synthetic Symposium identity. That is not a claim of testing the recipient's existing account or machine.

This is a **preview** release. Windows downloads and installed-client automatic-update feeds are unchanged. Public archive Linux/Mac download pointers are updated separately after byte verification.
